After years of performing around Bend for their loyal fans — known affectionately as “PP Heads” — the Bend-based hip-hop mega-band Person People has taken to the road in earnest.
For a long time, the group seemed content to hunker down in its lab, match up beats with rhymes, and rule the local music scene by occasionally playing places like The Grove and the Domino Room. Since they acquired a 15-passenger van, though, this 11-headed hip-hop hydra has made up for lost time, spending the past several weeks showing off its polished, live-instrument hip-hop to folks in Portland and Eugene, plus Montana, Wyoming and Idaho.
Good for them. The band's six-month-old album “heARTbeats” is excellent and deserves to be heard by a wider audience. But you can bet Person People — never one to shy away from putting on a show — will have some tricks and treats up their many sleeves for the locals who come out to tonight's pre-Halloween concert.
Person People, with The Staxx Brothers; 9 tonight; $10; Domino Room, 51 N.W. Greenwood Ave., Bend; www.myspace.com/personpeople01.
