Notable eagle to move north

Published: November 02. 2011 4:00AM PST

The Central Oregon bald eagle that gained national attention after receiving mouth-to-beak resuscitation this summer will be moving to Pendleton.

Patriot, the bald eagle, suffered extensive injuries after being struck by a car near Crane Prairie Reservoir in June. Since then, the eagle has been nursed back to health and is being moved to the Blue Mountain Wildlife Center in Pendleton. Though Patriot will never fly again because of his injuries, he will have a permanent home at the center.

A graduation party for Patriot will be held Friday at 12:30 p.m. at the Sunriver Nature Center. The celebration is free to the public.
