The Bend Park & Recreation District’s board of directors voted Tuesday not to pursue plans for a proposed municipal golf course.
The board decided to pass on the idea, saying that a large number of golf courses already exist in Central Oregon and that the recession has had an economic impact on these facilities.
The group that proposed the project argued that the new golf course would be more affordable for Bend-area youth to use. The district says it would be open to ideas on how it can partner with local golf courses to promote the sport for local youth.
