Enjoy summer to its fullest with outdoor dining options

There are hundreds of restaurants in Central Oregon that offer outdoor dining, in spaces that range from a few tables on the sidewalk to elaborate riverside patios, tree-shaded decks and seating around fire pits for cool evenings. That's far too many to include in a single issue of GO Magazine, so here is our larger list, by city, beginning with downtown Bend. Click the city name to skip to restaurants in other locations.

Outdoor scene: The front sidewalk offers three tables but the back patio, partially walled in and covered with a lattice roof, is where some 26 people can eat and watch live music in the summer.

Outdoor scene: About 10 people can sit on the sidewalk on Bond Street, but there's also an urban-ambience gated patio in the back that holds between 20 and 30 people inside an artsy metal gate that masks the view of the alley.

With landscaped gardens, views of the Deschutes River and blankets available for patrons on a chilly evening, the 16 tables on this downtown icon's outdoor patio make a great place to enjoy a cocktail or a full-fledged meal.

Outdoor scene: Pastini's 18-table patio is the closest outdoor dining space to Les Schwab Amphitheater's stage, and the stage for Alive After Five (a free concert series beginning July 18) is even closer. The patio is equipped with fireplaces and heaters for chilly nights, and it's perfect for stargazing. Closer to Earth, Pastini diners can see the Cascades as well as both humans and birds zipping up and down the Deschutes River.

The patio's busiest times are on nice warm summer evenings and afternoons, especially when there's an event at the Les Schwab Ampitheater and people who don't want to spend $40 to hear Beck can spend $11, get a burger, and hear Beck.

But this lack of scenery doesn't keep its patrons from taking their slice of pizza to the patio, especially when they can rent it for a special event or watch their favorite shows on a 58-inch projection screen TV that only works at night.
