A celebration of brewing

Published: July 05. 2012 4:00AM PST

The Old Mill District is hosting a Fermentation Celebration on July 12 in Bend.

Part of Oregon Craft Brewers Month, the event will include samplings from numerous breweries, live music by Boxcar Stringband, a raffle and a screening of the film “The Love of Beer” — a look at women in the brewing industry, including local brewer Tonya Cornett.

The Fermentation Celebration starts at 5 p.m. and will run until the taps run dry. Boxcar Stringband will perform from 5 to 7 p.m. in the plaza by the footbridge in the Old Mill. The film will screen in the empty space between Desperado and Jimmy John’s.

Mayor Jeff Eager and the Bend City Council will give a presentation on Bend and the craft brewing industry at 7 p.m. in the plaza.

The event is $15 and includes a limited-edition Silipint and four-ounce pours at participating shops and restaurants.
