Allen D. Medeiros, 65, of Bend, passed away October 24, 2012, at home surrounded by family. He was born February 10, 1947, in Waimea, Hawaii to Manuel & Kazue "Kay" Medeiros. Allen grew up and attended school in Hawaii. He attended Southern Oregon University and graduated with a bachelor degree in Political Science.

Allen married Peggy Mitchell on March 17, 1974, in Salem, OR. He served in the US Army and retired from there. Through his working life, he worked with the Oregon State Employment Division in the valley and later in Redmond and Bend.

Allen was a member of the Mt. Bachelor Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was active in the Boy Scouts, earning the Order of the Arrow and serving as a leader. Foremost in his life was his family and time was often spent in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and shooting.

He is survived by his mother, Kay Medeiros of Koloa, HI; his wife, Peggy of Bend; a son, Mitch Medeiros of Booneville, MO; daughters, Tracy Medeiros of Bend, Meagan Banner of Las Vegas, NV, Jennifer Ramey of Sunriver, OR and Becky Medeiros of Bend; three brothers, Kenneth of Torrance, CA, and Michael and Timothy of Koloa, HI; as well as eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Monday, October 29, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on 2555 NW Shevlin Park Rd., Bend.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Partners In Care Hospice, 2075 NE Wyatt Ct., Bend, OR, or the Boy Scouts of America.
