Melba Grant

Oct. 19, 1919 - Oct. 25, 2012

Melba was born in Geneva, Indiana, to Fred and Clara Willis and was the youngest of four children. When she was a young girl, the family moved to Bend, Oregon. She married Albert George Grant in 1940, and they were married 51 years until his death in 1991. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Melba was a highly-skilled sales person who took great pride in managing the children's department at "The Smart Shop" for many years. Melba later resided at Bend Villa Court and High Desert Retirement Center until two years ago, moving closer to family.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Henry) Mendazona of Independence and Sally (John) Sieberts of Sedona, Arizona; as well as five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A service will be held at 1:30 p.m., at Niswonger- Reynolds Chapel in Bend on Tuesday, October 30, with burial to follow at Pilot Butte Cemetery.

The family wishes to express thanks to her special caretakers at Heron Pointe in Monmouth and to Serenity Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes any donations be made to a charity or foundation of their choice.
