Bend-based Deschutes Brewery brought home more gold Wednesday, taking the top prize for two brews and silver for a third beer in the 2012 European Beer Star competition in Nuremberg, Germany.
Twilight Summer Ale and Mirror Pond Pale Ale both won gold in the English-style Golden Ale (summer ale) and the English-Style Pale Ale categories, respectively. The Abyss received a silver in the Imperial Stout category.
The Pelican Pub & Brewery in Pacific City won gold in two categories and silver in two. Bridgeport Brewing Co., of Portland, won one gold and Rogue Ales, of Newport, took home silver.
In its ninth year, the European Beer Star bills itself as Europe’s largest beer competition. This year, 1,366 beers from 45 countries were entered.
