Electro-this and progressive-that. Indie-whatever. Roots-blah-blah-blah.
Hyphens, hyphens everywhere.
If you are tired of hyphens mucking up your music, then perhaps you need a pick-me-up/kick in the teeth courtesy some good old-fashioned, hyphen-free rock ‘n’ roll.
Perhaps you need Badstrip, a San Francisco band playing Big T’s in Redmond Saturday night.
Kicking around since 2005, Badstrip’s sound lives at some magical, fist-pumping place where the old-school punk of the Ramones and Social Distortion meets a more substantive version of ’80s metal, without the eyeliner. The result is taut and relentless, a rumbling, out-of-control hot-rod with empty beer cans where the brake pedal used to be. Hear their stuff at www .badstrip.bandcamp.com.
Joining them Saturday night: Loud and like-minded locals High Desert Hooligans and Open Defiance.
Badstrip, with High Desert Hooligans and Open Defiance; 9 p.m. Saturday; $3; Big T’s, 413 S.W. Glacier Ave., Redmond; 541-505-3864.
