Mary Maynard Pierson passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012. She was born on June 17, 1929, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Robert and Ida Lee Maynard. Mary graduated from Washburn University with her teaching degree. She was an active member in her church and in her community, and avid reader, and a wonderful mother.
Survivors include two daughters, Annie Berube of Bend, Oregon, and Kelly Swift of Virginia Beach, Virginia; son, David Pierson of Topeka, Kansas; sister, Martha Brown of Topeka, Kansas; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Daryl Pierson; son, John Maynard Pierson; and two granddaughters, Lauren Berger and Kari Pierson.
A private memorial service is planned. Her remains will be laid to rest in San Diego, California.
