Phillip Dee Jacques Sr.

August 25, 1951 – January 5, 2013

Phillip Dee Jacques Sr., was born Aug. 25, 1951, in Redmond, Ore., to Alice (Russell) Sorenson of Spokane, and Coy Gaston of Fountain City, Ind. On the day of his birth, Phil was adopted by Benjamin and Roberta (Kinnan) Jacques, of Redmond. Phil passed away after a long illness Jan. 5, 2013, in the Partners in Care Hospice, surrounded by his loving family.

After being raised in Redmond, his family (having built the Jacques Chevrolet in Redmond and selling out), moved Phil to Burns, Ore. (buying the Chevrolet, Buick, Jeep dealership there in December of 1968), where Phil graduated high school in 1969.

After graduation, Phil married Connie Ward of Sisters, Ore. Leaving Sisters, they moved to Longview, Wash. in 1973, buying the Olympia Beer Distributorship in Kelso. They sold the beer business (it not being Phil’s niche in life), and Phil went back to the automobile business a few short years later.

Phil attended Central Oregon Community College, various trade schools and General Motors training schools, making his living for over 40 years in the automobile and RV industry, and eventually opening Mr. RV in Longview, retiring from that business in 2012. Phil and Connie divorced in 2002, and remained friends.

Known as Mr. RV, Phil, always quick with a joke (and he had many), never met a stranger. Phil’s passions were fishing, hunting, and cars. He restored several and loved every minute of it.

He lived in the Longview area for 40 years before recently moving to Sisters, to be nearer to family.

Phil is survived by his former wife, Connie, and their three children, Phillip Jacques Jr., of Longview, Justin Jacques, and Amanda (Casey) Moore, of Sisters; three grandchildren, Kinzi, Easton and Reese Moore, of Sisters; six sisters, Christine Halvorson of Spokane, Nancy (Don) Cowles of Cheney, Wash., Judy Sorenson of Portland, Pamela Gaston, Veronica (Steve) Console in California, and Conita (Ron) Powers-Livingston of Bedford, Ind.; a brother, Larry (Susan) Larson of Spokane; his “other brother” Daryl Gaston of Fountain City, Ind.; many nieces and nephews; his very special step-mom, Peggy Gaston, of Fountain City; and his best friend and companion, his dog, Sadie.

Phil was preceded in death by his mothers, Alice and Roberta; his fathers, Coy and Ben; and a nephew, Cory Halvorson.

Phil wanted to be remembered as the life of the party. He was always ready for a good time and loved being with and entertaining friends and family. Per Phil’s request, there will be no service.

In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Partners In Care, 2075 NE Wyatt Court, Bend, OR 97701; 541-382-5882.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Baird Funeral Home, Bend.
