A family of six lost its home Friday evening in a fire that destroyed a house two miles northeast of Prineville.
According to Crook County Fire & Rescue, a neighbor reported the fire at around 5 p.m. Two fire engines, two water tenders, an ambulance and 12 firefighters responded but the house was a loss.
The four adults and two children who lived there were away at the time, and are being assisted by the Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, and no injuries were reported.
