David Wallace Eckman, a Prineville resident, passed away on January 13, 2013, at his home in Prineville. He was 83 years old.
David was born in Geddes, South Dakota on January 7, 1930 to William and Lela Eckman. He attended and graduated from Sandpoint High School, and entered the Army in April, 1951. He served in the Korean War, ERC Artillery Branch.
David met the love of his life, Marjorie Burgess, in Sandpoint, Idaho at a Sadie Hawkins dance.
He was a member of the BPOE 358 Heppner, Oregon, and IWA.
David worked for 23 years at the Kinzua Corporation in Heppner, and 13 years at Pine Products in Prineville.
He was an avid fisherman and bowler.
David is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie Eckman of Prineville, OR; children, Linda Hays of West Linn, OR, David Jr. (Deana) of Pendleton, OR, Kenneth (Lana) of Heppner, OR, Robert (Kathy) of Prineville, OR; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by Daniel R. Hays (son-in-law); his parents, William W. and Lela Eckman; brother, Thomas Eckman; sisters Dee Pederson, Vera Mason, and Betty Eckman.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, and Pioneer Memorial Hospice.
A memorial service will be held at Prineville Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013. A reception will follow at Meadow Lakes.
