Bend grocer wins national award

Debbie Dory, co-owner of Newport Avenue Market in Bend, has received the Woman of the Year award, a national honor given out once a year by the Women Grocers of America.
The award, presented Tuesday at the National Grocers Association annual show in Las Vegas, recognized her work at Newport Market and for co-founding of the Hunger Prevention Coalition of Central Oregon, which has raised $429,000 over the years to provide food for people in need, according to Supermarket News.
