Moms have new grocery goals

Published: February 15. 2013 4:00AM PST

A recent survey of U.S. mothers indicated that nearly all — 96 percent — intended to make changes to how they buy food in 2013.

The survey, “Cart to Kitchen 2013," included responses from 1,000 moms. Many indicated a desire to become more organized, to focus more on nutrition and to save more money. Sixty-seven percent said they wanted to become more organized in terms of meal planning and 51 percent wanted to try to make meals ahead of time and freeze them. Forty-one percent of mothers said they wanted to become more organized while shopping and 33 percent wanted to make fewer visits to the grocery store.

About half of the moms surveyed wanted to cut down on processed food purchases; 78 percent said they already read food labels regularly.
