• Howard Friedman, of Compass Commercial Real Estate Services and Ken Streater, of ARIS Group, were presented the 2012 Transaction of the Year Award at the Commercial Investment Division of the Central Oregon Association of Realtors annual presentation. It was the first time the award was given to two separate Realtors. Friedman represented the seller of the property and Streater represented the buyer. The transaction closed in February 2012 after being on the market for more than six years.
• Eli Ashley has been appointed president of the board for the City Club of Central Oregon. Ashley has 30 years experience working with capital campaigns, challenge grants, public-nonprofit partnerships, events, boards, committees and strategic planning. He previously was the executive director of the Tower Theatre Foundation and was a participant in the City Club of Tacoma. He has a bachelor's degree in business administration and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Washington.
• Hair stylist Tracy Newton, who works at O'Hairs Salon in Bend, recently completed a three-day Redken Symposium Professional Stylist hair color course in Las Vegas, where she learned the latest techniques in color and hair cuts. She has worked as a hair stylist for 24 years.
• Craig Blanchette has joined Northwest Quality Roofing in Bend as sales director and project supervisor. In this position Blanchette assists in the daily operations of the company, including quality assurance, scheduling, dispatch and placing orders. He also leads residential sales and customer relations.
