6 p.m. on GOLF, ‘‘The Haney Project’’ — Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps is the latest celebrity to go under the tutelage of swing coach Hank Haney for the series’ fifth season. ‘‘As I enter this next chapter of my life, I think I will be able to shift my competitiveness to anything I put my mind to, and golf is one of the things I want to focus on,’’ Phelps says. ‘‘I want to play all the world’s great golf courses, but I’d like to play them well.’’ First lesson: Stay out of the water.

8 p.m. on 6, ‘‘How I Met Your Mother’’ - Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) breaks out his famous playbook to help Ted (Josh Radnor) find a new girlfriend after he and Jeanette (Abby Elliot) split up. Robin (Cobie Smulders) is not pleased; she thought he destroyed the book. Lily (Alyson Hannigan) hopes to make a good impression at a gallery opening, but it’s Marshall (Jason Segel) who gets the attention in the new episode ‘‘Weekend at Barney’s.’’

8 p.m. on 10, ‘‘Bones’’ — An eccentric new intern (Brian Klugman) comes to work at the Jeffersonian and inspires Brennan (Emily Deschanel) to try being more open-minded about questions of science. When she seriously considers time travel as a factor in the murder they’re investigating, however, Booth (David Boreanaz) thinks she’s taking that open-mindedness too far. Michaela Conlin also stars in the new episode ‘‘The Fact in the Fiction.’’

9 p.m. on 10, ‘‘The Following’’ — After a new follower (Tom Lipinski) makes Carroll’s (James Purefoy) true intentions known, Hardy (Kevin Bacon) tries to turn Emma, Jacob and Paul (Valorie Curry, Nico Tortorella, Adan Canto) against one another in hopes of stalling them. Emma makes a decision that shocks everyone in the new episode ‘‘The Fall.’’

9 p.m. on TNT, ‘‘Dallas’’ — As John Ross (Josh Henderson) continues putting pressure on Sue Ellen (Linda Gray) to help him take control of Ewing Energies, Christopher (Jesse Metcalfe) drops a bombshell that could change the company’s future. Christopher and Pamela (Julie Gonzalo) work on settling their divorce. An outsider’s attempt to undermine the Ewings brings the family together in the new episode ‘‘Blame Game.’’

9:30 p.m. on 6, ‘‘Mike & Molly’’ — Retail therapy — gotta love it. Molly and Mike (Melissa McCarthy, Billy Gardell) get into an argument at the mall, and Mike storms off. She reacts by going on a shopping spree in the new episode ‘‘Molly’s New Shoes.’’
