VTP begins play reading series

Published: March 15. 2013 4:00AM PST

Volcanic Theatre Pub launches its play reading series at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday with a reading of Edward Albee’s Tony Award-winning play “The Goat, or Who is Sylvia?"

Professional actors Derek and Jeanne Sitter will present the tale of a married, middle-aged architect whose life crumbles when he falls in love with a goat. The play won a 2002 Tony Award and was also nominated for the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Admission is $3.

The series will continue March 27 with Martin McDonagh’s black comedy “A Behanding in Spokane," about Carmichael, a man who’s been searching for his missing left hand for 27 years, two bickering lovebirds with a hand to sell and a hotel clerk who’s averse to gunfire.

VTP, located in Bend’s Century Center, 70 S.W. Century Drive, is Bend’s new cultural arts venue. VTP offers film screenings, plays and live music in a warehouse space furnished with sofas, chairs, recliners, tables and more, while serving craft brews and wines.
