The opportunity to get in an early-season run and raise funds for a good cause — and a perfect excuse to dress in the spirit of St. Patrick's Day — brought hundreds of runners and walkers to downtown Bend on Sunday morning. Here, Bend's Rachel Worbes (No. 656) follows the flow of green-clad runners during the annual Mt. Bachelor Rotary St. Patrick's Day Dash, a 5-kilometer event benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon. The course started and finished at the Deschutes Brewery & Public House; the event was presented by Deschutes Brewery. Of the 275 timed entrants in an estimated field of 700 plus, the overall winner was Bend's Ryan McLaughlin in a time of 17 minutes, 21.3 seconds. Second was Sean Cronin, also of Bend, in 17:36.6, and third was Mark Robins, of Salem, in 18:05.2. The first female finisher was Hannah Tobiason, of Bend, in 21:30.0.
