Mountain bike riders get down and dirty in the 11th edition of the Central Oregon race

Eat my dust, Ryan Trebon of Bend leads the start of the pro men’s division of the Cascade Chainbreaker race, held on dirt trails west of Bend, on Sunday morning. Trebon went on to win the 36.5-mile race in a time of 2 hours, 25 minutes, 2 seconds.

This race gave a whole new meaning to “leaving ’em in the dust.”Clouds of dust whirled in the wake of racers as they ripped knobby tires over dirt trails west of Bend on Sunday.....MORE

Once, Hummel had to wait 20 minutes before she could spot the bird, which was hunkering down in its nest. At top right, a golden eagle flies near Tumalo Reservoir.
