When Black Friday hits on Nov. 27, the owners of Elite Repeat, a consignment clothing store on Southeast Third Street, will discount all black items by 25 percent.Elite Repeat's sale is not intended to compete with chain retailers like Best Buy or Walmart, which both plan to begin selling highly discounted merchandise at 5 a.m. on Black Friday. Instead, the owners of Elite Repeat want to introduce more people to their store, especially those who are low on cash and looking for a deal.

WASHINGTON — U. S. Rep. Greg Walden, R-Hood River, won’t run for Oregon governor, he announced Thursday.Walden, 52, is the only Republican in Oregon to hold federal office and was widely considered the GOP’s best candidate to re-take the governor’s seat in 2010.Given the weighty issues facing the U.S. Congress — including health care reform and government deficits — Walden told The Bulletin on Thursday that he’s already in the best position to help Oregon.

Kellyanne Litton's Thanksgiving stuffing is nothing too fancy. There are no berries or nuts. It's got butter, onions and — the key — breakfast sausage. Some of it gets stuffed into the turkey and some is baked alongside the bird. But the stuffing is more than just a dish to this Bend mom.

A Sage decision; The Sage Cafe is a focal point of NorthWest Crossing

The very first business to open in Bend's NorthWest Crossing neighborhood was the Sage Cafe and Coffee House. Established in February 2003, the small shop quickly and logically became a community center, providing fast meals and good java as the neighborhood grew and expanded. There are now several other restaurants in the district, but the Sage Cafe continues to hold its own. It was, indeed, a sage decision to open a cafe even when Mount Washington and NorthWest Crossing drives were little more than two lonely ribbons through sagebrush country.

‘Moon' lacks shine; It's a hopeless mess that will please only die-hard fans

The characters in this movie should be arrested for loitering with intent to moan. Never have teenagers been in greater need of a jump-start. Granted, some of them are more than 100 years old, but still: Their charisma is by Madame Tussaud.“The Twilight Saga: New Moon” takes the tepid achievement of “Twilight” (2008), guts it and leaves it for the undead. You know you're in trouble with a sequel when the word of mouth advises you to see the first movie twice instead. Obviously the characters all have. Long opening stretches of this film make utterly no sense unless you walk in knowing the first film, and hopefully both Stephenie Meyer novels, by heart. Edward and Bella spend murky moments glowering at each other and thinking, “So, here we are again.”

The Deschutes River Trail is in prime form this time of year, and between Benham and Dillon Falls, the brisk temperatures, rushing water, lava flow and fragrant, manzanita-scented air are part of the attraction.Trail users should practice proper etiquette, said Deschutes National Forest trails specialist Chris Sabo. Mountain bike riders will want to watch for hikers and runners.
