Legislative Emergency Board may approve rural affairs office

SALEM - Oregon moved closer Thursday to joining the ranks of states with offices that oversee rural affairs - with a little help from Uncle Sam.

A subcommittee of the Legislative Emergency Board gave the preliminary green light to hiring a two-person staff to run the new entity.
