Details: The latest building to rise in the NorthWest Crossing commercial development is designed for small-office users in a thriving commercial core, said Jonny Walker, whose business, Walker Structural Engineering LLC, will occupy half of the top floor of the 8,126-square-foot, two-story building.

BRW Development LLC is a partnership that includes Jon and Lisa Corbett, Rick and Debbie George, and Jonny and Heather Walker. The men are friends who are all Oregon State University alumni, Walker said.

“We wanted to do something different,” Walker said of the group’s building. “We wanted it to mimic something you would see in an old city. It would look old like it had been there for years.”

The wood-framed building has a brick exterior with arched windows on lower floors and arched steel canopies on the two front entrances.

The building also features brick pilasters every 25 feet. The pilasters, which supported floor and roof beams in the old days, are ornamental, Walker said.

The location will allow Walker to live closer to his work when he completes his move with seven employees from downtown, he said. Completion of the BRW Building, which started in November, is expected to be completed by September, Walker said.

The rest of the top floor will have executive suites, which have a common kitchen, copiers and a conference room, and will be suitable for one- to two-person businesses. Seven of the eight 120- to 250-square-foot suites, which will lease for between $450 and $925 per month, remain available on the second floor, Walker said.

There are two ground-floor spaces available for lease, he said. Each suite — one measuring 2,153 square feet, and the other 1,543 square feet — will lease for $1.80 per square foot.
