You may not recognize the name The Mighty Underdogs, but if you pay even a little attention to undergound rap, you’ll recognize the members of this hip-hop supergroup.

The Underdogs are Gift of Gab from the popular California duo Blackalicious, Lateef the Truth Speaker of Latyrx and the Quannum Projects collective, and Headnodic of throwback hip-hoppers Crown City Rockers.

Together, they make an upbeat, party-friendly brand of hip-hop on their new album, “Droppin’ Science Fiction,” out now on Definitive Jux Records.

As if the Underdogs don’t bring enough star power, the record features guest appearances by DJ Shadow, Mr. Lif, Lyrics Born, MF Doom and Damian and Julian Marley. You can hear a few tracks for yourself at www.myspace.com/themightyunderdogs.

Wednesday’s stop in Bend is part of the group’s first headlining tour.
