Tiefighter brings pop-metal to Bend

It’s been a while since the punk/emo/metal fans in Central Oregon had a good show come through, hasn’t it?

Yeah, it has.

The drought will end Sunday when the Southern California band Tiefighter comes to the Domino Room on a West Coast tour to promote its new album, “I Could Tell The World.”

Tiefighter is part of the current wave of bands that loves to spike its super-catchy pop-punk with hardcore metal riffs and throat-shredding growls. When Tiefighter sticks to its pop side, it can churn out some serious toe-tappers. In fact, as I was writing this brief, I had the band’s MySpace going in the background, and I actually thought to myself, “This band’s poppier side sounds a lot like Blink-182.” Then I switched over to look at the MySpace and realized the song was actually a Blink cover.

So, in summary, when they cover Blink-182, Tiefighter sounds like Blink-182, but with guttural screaming sprinkled about. The poster says “for fans of Comeback Kid, Figure Four and The Warriors,” so if you dig those bands, you should check this show out.

Tiefighter is touring with Riverside, Calif., band No Bragging Rights and in Bend, local punk quartet The Roe will be one of the opening acts. The Roe loves to mix melody with metal, too, and are the perfect local act to join this bill.

Tiefighter, No Bragging Rights, The Roe, Knuckle Sandwich, Murked and more ; 8 p.m. Sunday; $8; Domino Room, 51 N.W. Greenwood Ave., Bend; www.myspace.com/redlightartistagency.
