A fire at Chan’s Chinese Restaurant in Bend on Friday has been traced to a damaged wire in the attic, the Bend Fire Department announced Tuesday.

The fire at the restaurant on Third Street was reported about 2 a.m. The blaze spread up from the attic to the roof and down to the kitchen area, causing an estimated $600,000 in damages.

Chan’s owners are working with their insurance company to clean up, rebuild and reopen the restaurant.
