• Angels’ Weaver stays home for $85 million deal: Jered Weaver simply decided his loyalty to the Los Angeles Angels was worth much more than a few extra millions in free agency. Weaver realizes he probably could have made a bit more as an unrestricted free agent after next season, but he doesn’t care. Weaver is 14-6 with a 2.10 ERA after starting the All-Star game last month.

The Marlins plan to fly to Philadelphia immediately after the doubleheader for a series beginning Friday. Cincinnati is scheduled to begin a series at home Friday against Washington.
