One person suffered minor injuries in a garage fire Thursday afternoon in the La Pine area.

Fire crews responded at around 3 p.m. on reports of a garage and a person on fire at 16790 Pine Place. Crews arrived to find a 900-square-foot pole barn style garage in flames and a person with superficial burns to the arms and neck, fire officials said.

The structure fire was extinguished, and the burn victim received medical treatment at the scene.

An investigation determined the burn victim started the fire by attempting to light a wood stove using wood, paper and gasoline.
