What: Bendistillery storage building

Where: 19330 Pinehurst Road, Bend

Owner: Bendistillery Inc.

General contractor: Tony Gaines Construction Inc., Bend

Contact: 541-318-0200

Details: Bendistillery, which makes more than 20 brands of spirits northwest of Tumalo beside U.S. Highway 20, has seen increases in product popularity, said the company’s founder and CEO, Jim Bendis.

“We’ve just been increasing our business so much that we need room to store extra bottles,” Bendis said.

The craft distillery founded in 1996 moved from northeast Bend to its current location about a year and a half ago.

Since then, tasting room sales have doubled, Bendis said.

Now the company needs more room for storage.

The building under construction measures around 3,000 square feet.

“But it’s extra high,” Bendis said, “to accommodate three tiers of bottles.” Altogether, it should fit 12 containers’ worth of bottles, he said.

In the future, the company plans to roll out products it has never made before — whiskey, rum and tequila — and build another building on its 23 acres, he said.

And, Bendis said, “We’re going to have the world’s first estate gin, where everything in the bottle is going to come from the facility right from our farm.”
