SISTERS — Eli Harrison’s game-high 23 points included perfect 12-for-12 free-throw shooting, and the senior wing led Sisters to a 54-45 boys basketball win over La Pine on Friday night in the Class 4A Sky-Em League opener for both teams.
Harrison made all nine of his foul shots in the fourth quarter, when the host Outlaws (1-0 Sky-Em, 4-8 overall) held off a La Pine rally that saw the Hawks draw within four points with about 2 1⁄2 minutes left to play.
Cole Moore had 12 points and five assists, and Ryan Pollard added 11 points for Sisters, which snapped a three-game losing streak. Harrison gathered a game-best 10 rebounds. For the night, the Outlaws made 18 of 20 free throws.
La Pine (0-1, 6-9) was led by Cameron Kraft, who had five rebounds to go with his 13 points. Gavin Boen added 11 points and four steals, and Sam Wieber contributed seven points and four assists for the Hawks, who lost their third game in a row.
La Pine led early when Kraft hit two three-pointers and Tyler Parsons made another as the Hawks raced to a 13-5 advantage.
The Outlaws managed to pull even at 15-15 by the end of the first period, then outscored the visitors 16-8 in the pivotal second quarter for a 31-23 halftime lead.
“Our size helped us in the second quarter,” said Sisters coach Rand Runco. “We shot the ball better, moved the ball better, and we got after their shooters a little more.”
Both teams are back in Sky-Em action on Tuesday night: Sisters is at Sweet Home, and La Pine hosts Cottage Grove.
