No. 13 Creighton gets win — Doug McDermott scored a season-high 39 points, including all 18 for Creighton in the first 7:12 of the second half, and the 13th-ranked Bluejays beat Missouri State 74-52 on Friday night in Springfield, Mo. McDermott, was perfect on his first 10 field goal attempts in the second half as he led the Bluejays to their 10th consecutive win.

Motorcyclist killed at Dakar — French motorcyclist Thomas Bourgin has been killed in the Dakar Rally when he collided with a Chilean police car. Race officials say the incident occurred as Bourgin was travelling from Calama on the Chilean side of the Andes to the start of the seventh stage in Argentina on Friday. He was 25.
Earnhardt starts big wreck at Daytona test — Dale Earnhardt Jr. started a 12-car accident at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona, Fla., that essentially shut down a three-day test session. NASCAR’s most popular driver tapped Marcus Ambrose as they drove across the back straightaway, lifting him “like a forklift” and turning him into the wall. Ambrose’s car bounced back across the track and collected a host of others.
