The Oregon State Police cited a La Pine man for deer poaching Friday after finding the remains of two trophy mule deer at his home.

Louis “Lee” Henson, 65, was cited for taking a deer out of hunting season, exceeding the limit for deer, taking deer in a closed area, failing to validate a deer tag and borrowing a deer tag, said OSP Lt. Don Wagner. All are misdemeanors. The possible penalty for each is up to a year in jail and a $6,000 fine.

Adrienne Henson, 63, his wife, was also cited for loaning a deer tag, another misdemeanor, Wagner said. The couple are due in court next month.

The deer were likely shot and killed in the Fort Rock hunting unit in the last two weeks of November. An anonymous tip led troopers to a search of the Henson home.
