Donald Hornig, 92: Scientist who worked on the Manhattan Project and who later became Brown University president and the top science adviser to President Lyndon B. Johnson. Died Monday at a nursing home in Providence, R.I.

Linda Pugach, 75: Woman who was blinded in 1959 when her lover hired hit men to throw lye in her face — and became a media sensation after later marrying him; their story was detailed in the 2007 documentary “Crazy Love.” Died Tuesday in Queens, N.Y.

Jane Glenn Haas, 75: Nationally syndicated columnist and reporter for the Orange County Register who founded WomanSage, an organization promoting the potential of women in midlife and beyond. Died Wednesday.

Dolores Prida, 69: Cuban-born journalist and playwright who wrote candidly and wittily about local and national politics, romance and other personal matters, and the joys and vexations of the Hispanic experience in the United States. Died Sunday in Manhattan, N.Y.

Andree Putman, 87: Parisian who rediscovered and reissued early Modernist French furniture and then went on to a renowned global career as an interior designer. Died Saturday at her home in Paris.
