Unemployment rates in Central Oregon barely changed in January compared to December, the Oregon Employment Department said Friday.
Deschutes County’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained at 10.5 percent in January, the same rate as December.
Crook County’s jobless rate rose slightly in January, to 13.4 percent, from December’s 13.3 percent.
Jefferson County also saw a slight bump in January, to 12.1 percent, from the 11.9 percent rate the prior month.
Year over year, however, unemployment rates for all three counties have dropped between 6 and 9 percentage points, according to the Employment Department. However, the region continues to struggle with some of the highest jobless rates in the state, according to the report.
Oregon’s statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for January was 8.4 percent.
