Have you heard that new Phoenix song? “Entertainment” from their upcoming album “Bankrupt!”?

Man, it’s great. That band … they are like perfect pop-music-making robots. Talk about having it dialed in.

Solwave is not Phoenix — I suspect even they would tell you that — but the first Solwave song I heard reminded me of the French robo-pop superstars. Based in San Francisco, Solwave has the same sort of feel: instantly catchy melodies set to a metronomic pulse with some funky and synthetic things happening here and there for maximum club readiness.

Solwave’s bio cites “genre-blending artists like Muse and The Killers” as touchstones; I have not heard Muse, but The Killers are a fair comparison too.
