SISTERS — Pitcher Cassidy Edwards struck out 11 and Tiffany Milliman batted in two runs to lead Sisters to its first victory of the season Friday, a 7-2 win over visiting Summit.

The Outlaws (1-1) led 5-0 after four innings before tacking on two more runs in the bottom of the sixth. Summit, whose Jacqueline Manley took the loss, scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning, but that was all.

Edwards, who gave up six hits in the victory, helped her own cause Friday, going two for three with a triple and two RBIs. Harley Rowe added two hits and an RBI for Sisters. Manley led the Storm offense with a double and one run batted in.

SOFTBALL

Ridgeview 10, La Pine 2: REDMOND — Shelby Abbas recorded three hits, including a triple, in five at-bats, and Rachel Collins picked up the Ravens’ first win in program history in Ridgeview’s season-opening nonconference win. The Ravens (1-0) held a 2-1 advantage heading into the sixth before adding insurance runs in the bottom half of the inning. La Pine (0-2) was led by Cassandra Roes’ two-for-three day at the plate.

Bulldogs split in Burns: BURNS — Culver posted its first win of the year with a 9-2 victory over Burns in the opening game of the nonleague doubleheader. Sophomore Sara McKinney struck out 11 to earn the win, and Ashley Wilda went four for four with a double at the plate to pace the Bulldogs. In the second game, the Hilanders topped Culver 12-8. Each team recorded 17 hits in the late contest, but a six-run fifth inning propelled Burns. Josi Harrison was tagged with the loss for the Bulldogs. McKinney led the way for Culver on offense in the defeat, ending the game four for five with a double.

BASEBALL

Sisters 14, Summit 7: SISTERS — Sophomore Cody Kreminski went three for four at the plate and freshman Alex Olivier finished two for four with two RBIs in both players’ first-ever varsity starts, as Sisters used an eight-run fourth inning to turn a 7-2 deficit into a 10-7 advantage en route to a nonconference win. “We gave up five runs with two outs,” Sisters coach Steve Hodges said of Summit’s five-run fourth inning before the Outlaws’ onslaught. “We finally decided to wake up and play baseball.” Joey Morgan and Jardon Weems tallied two RBIs apiece for the Outlaws (2-0), and Eli Boettner came in to pitch the final three innings, holding the Storm scoreless and hitless to seal the victory.

Madras 4, McLoughlin 3: MADRAS — A two-run double by Devin Ceciliani in the first inning and a run-scoring single by Alex McDonald soon after gave the White Buffaloes an early 3-1 lead, but the Pioneers from Milton-Freewater would even things up with a run in the third inning and another in the fifth. Cody Shepherd, however, delivered in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI triple to score Robert Fine, and freshman Austin Rauschenburg held McLoughlin scoreless the rest of the way as the Buffs improved to 1-1 on the season.

BOYS TENNIS

Storm drop three at tourney: SALEM — Summit’s 24-match winning streak came to an end at the Saxon Invitational, a four-team tournament at the Salem Tennis and Swim Club featuring the Storm, host South Salem and Lincoln and Grant high schools of Portland. Summit lost to South Salem 10-9 on sets after the two teams tied 4-4. Grant topped the Storm 6-2 and Lincoln bested Summit 5-3. The doubles team of Scott Parr and Josh Maitre went 2-1, as did the pairing of Henry Allen and Thomas Wimberly.
