LA PINE — Keagan Morton and Tucker Allen combined for a four-hitter as La Pine won its third straight Sky-Em League baseball game Friday, topping Cottage Grove 2-1.

With the victory, the Hawks are now 4-4 in league play and 5-13 overall.

“Both guys threw really well,” said La Pine coach Bryn Card, whose team is now alone in third place in the Sky-Em League standings. “They didn’t strike out a lot of guys (three), but they threw outs. When the other team isn’t making solid contact, it’s good for us.”

Gareth Dahlgren carried the Hawks offense, ending the day 2-for-4 at the plate with a pair of stolen bases in addition to scoring both of La Pine’s runs. Morton and Erik Page both went 1-for-3 for the Hawks.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Dahlgren scored the game-winning run after Lee Ries hit a ball to Cottage Grove’s second baseman that he could not handle.

“Hopefully we can keep the momentum going,” said Card, noting that the top four teams in the Sky-Em League all advance past the regular season.
