•Susan Armstrong was accepted into the Lutheran Medical Center Pediatric Dental Residency Program in Yakima, Wash. She is a dentist at Bluefish Dental and Orthodontics, a children’s dental practice in Bend and Redmond. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Detroit Mercy and completed advanced education in general dentistry residency program at Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic in Toppenish, Wash.

•Michael Blizniak joined Therapeutic Associates at the Neff Road and Athletic Club of Bend clinics. He received a bachelor’s degree in clinical science and a doctorate degree in physical therapy from Ithaca College in central New York. Blizniak is certified as a strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

•Steven Foster-Wexler,of Alpine Acupuncture and NorthWest Crossing Chiropractic and Health Center, was recently appointed by Gov. John Kitzhaber to serve a four-year term as the public health care board member for the Oregon Board of Massage Therapists.

•Paul Shales was named Adult Volunteer of the Year and Molly Svendsen was named Youth Volunteer of the Year by Healthy Beginnings. Shales provided vision and health screening services in many communities throughout Central Oregon. Svendsen provided office support in the preparation process for screening clinics and followup case management.
