Locals win in Mothers races

REDMOND — Shane Buening and Mary Schofield, both of Redmond, were the men’s and women’s winners, respectively, in the 5-kilometer event at Saturday’s Miles for Mothers races in Redmond’s Dry Canyon.

Buening’s winning time was 21 minutes, 7.2 seconds; Schofield, who was sixth overall among 63 finishers, was clocked in 23:11.5.

Twenty-one participants finished the 10K race, led by Redmond’s Isaac Bryant, whose time was 42:37.7. First among the women in the 10K was Terrebonne’s Kyleeta Kelley, who finished fifth overall in 51:31.0.

Proceeds from Miles for Mothers will go to subsidize the cost of counseling for mothers in financial need who are seeking service from WaterCup Counseling of Redmond.
