Florence S. Best of Bend, passed away of natural causes on April 30, 2013, at the age of 87.
Florence was born in Denver, CO, to James Blaine and Christine (Treewick) Southworth.
She graduated from University of Colorado Law School, summa cum laude, and passed the Colorado Bar.
After marrying her first husband, Robert Duncan Means, she became a homemaker to raise their two children, Stephen and Bruce. She married her second husband, Whitman Best, and together they had a third child, John Best.
Florence loved to garden, and was a member of her neighborhood garden club as well as being involved in Bridge Club, and did volunteer work at the Dumb Friends League Animal Shelter.
Florence is preceded in death by her son, John Best. She is survived by her sons, Stephen Rice (Maureen) Means of Orlando, FL, and James Bruce (Vicki) Means of Bend, Oregon; her grandchildren, Christina (Brian) Jackson, Jennifer (Justin) Bridges, James (Michelle) Means, Stephen Means and Thomas Means; as well as one great-grandchild, Kinley Jackson.
A memorial service will be held at Clare Bridge in Bend, on Thursday, May 23, at 3:00 p.m.
