A Sunday afternoon single-vehicle rollover crash approximately three miles east of Paulina in Crook County sent three people to the hospital, according to Crook County sheriff’s deputy Mitch Madden.
Paramedics from Crook County Fire and Rescue were dispatched to S.E. Paulina Highway near milepost 57, where a Nissan pickup had rolled several times. The driver, 55-year-old Timothy Johnson, of Terrebonne, and a passenger, 27-year-old Joshua Tooley, of Eugene, were reportedly out of the vehicle when emergency responders arrived.
A third passenger, Kelsi Tooley, 28, of Eugene, was trapped inside and having trouble breathing. After extricating her from the pickup, she was Lifeflighted to St. Charles Bend. Her condition was unavailable Monday.
Johnson was also taken via helicopter to St. Charles Bend, where he was treated and released. Joshua Tooley was taken by ambulance to St. Charles Bend. He was also treated for his injuries and later released.
An investigation determined Johnson failed to safely negotiate a corner and traveled off the roadway. After making several attempts to bring the vehicle back onto the roadway, Johnson lost control of the pickup, swerved several times and eventually rolled the vehicle.
Both male passengers were wearing safety belts. Kelsi Tooley was riding in the back seat with her back against the rear passenger door and her feet on the seat, according to Madden. Because of her position, she was not wearing her seatbelt properly.
