Anna Lea McDonald was born on September 1, 1923, to Evelyn and Ray McDonald in
Denver, CO. Anna Lea moved to San Francisco, at the age of 12. She attended Marina Middle School and later graduated from Burlingame High School. She then attended the University of Oregon where she joined the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Her U of O stay was cut short because of the war and because her high school sweetheart, Bill Elliott, asked her to marry him. They were wed March 1944, for a short three months as Bill, a pilot during the war, went missing in July, over New Guinea.
Anna Lea later met and married, Gardner L. Williams, raised in Sea Cliff, San Francisco. They were married at Del Monte Lodge, Carmel, CA, on March 24, 1946.
The young couple had four children together, Gardner Williams III, of Bend, OR, Leslie Williams McQuown, of San Francisco and Sonoma, CA, Kirk Williams (1951-1971), and Christopher Dayton Williams, of Portland, OR.
Divorced from Gardner in 1969, Anna Lea went on to marry Firman Voorhies of Gilroy, CA, in 1979.
Firm and Anna Lea had 15 enjoyable years together traveling, enjoying golf and good friends.
At age 80, Anna Lea decided to be adventuresome and move to Bend, OR, where her eldest son resides. She enjoyed the change of scene from the Bay area, making many new friends in her new and lovely assisted living residence.
Her children were with her at her bedside when she peacefully passed on, May 26, 2013.
In addition to her three surviving children, she is survived by three grandsons, Alex Morgan McQuown of San Francisco, CA, Charles Andrew Williams and John Davis Tucker of Portland, OR.
