BendBroadband’s vice president of technology has been appointed by Gov. John Kitzhaber to the Oregon Broadband Advisory Council.

Wade Holmes has worked for BendBroadband for seven years, according to a news release. He has been involved in technical initiatives like the company’s effort, partially funded by the federal government, to build a 132-mile regional fiber-optic ring. Currently, Holmes has been working on expanding business at BendBroadband’s data center, the Vault, according to the news release.

Created by the Legislature in 2009, the Oregon Broadband Advisory Council helps coordinate deployment and use of high-speed Internet across the state. Members appointed by the governor serve four-year terms, according to the legislation that created the council.
