SALEM — Gov. John Kitzhaber has invited legislative leaders to the governor’s mansion Monday to resolve a stalemate over the budget.

Kitzhaber spokesman Tim Raphael confirmed Friday that the governor plans to meet with House and Senate leaders from both parties.

Legislators have been negotiating a plan to finalize a budget for the next two years, but Kitzhaber said Thursday both sides are still far apart. Republicans are seeking steeper cuts to public-employee pensions and Democrats want increased tax revenue.
