Jan. 4, 1942 – May 26, 2013
Albert Stanley Townsend, 71, of Bend, Oregon, passed away over Memorial weekend. He was home where he wanted to be, with his loving family by his side.
Simply put, Stan was Bend, Oregon. Born and raised here, Stan was born at the old ”hospital hill” to the late Ralph and Olive Townsend on January 4, 1942. A graduate of Bend High School, Stan married his lifelong love, Sherry on January 18, 1966. They remained married for 47 years until Stan’s death on Sunday.
Stan was nothing short of a Bend legend. He came from extremely modest means, and worked his way to an incredible life. He began his career at the age of 17 working at Horns Texaco on the corner of 3rd Street and Reed Market. He ultimately bought the business and later converted it to Townsend Auto, which his son, Jason, now owns and operates.
Stan is survived by his loving wife, Sherry; and his children, Stephanie and Jason.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Partners In Care (Hospice).
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at Stan’s favorite place, the Townsend Ranch… or simply known as ”the Land,” at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 22, 2013.
