May 21, 1920 – May 22, 2013

Shonita Hurtado of Bend, Oregon (formerly of Placerville, CA), passed away May 22, 2013 at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Oregon. She was 93.

Shonita was born May 21, 1920 in Walsenburg, Colorado, to Antonio and Victoria (Lucero) Lopez. She spent much of her life living in the San Francisco Bay area before moving to Placerville, California. She moved to Bend in 2010 to be closer to her daughter.

She enjoyed watching baseball, painting and spending time with family.

Shonita is survived by her daughter, Armita (husband Tom) Nitcher of Bend; and sisters, Ida Garbizo of Walsenberg, Colorado and Erminia Maldonado of Pueblo, Colorado. Other survivors include 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and five grea-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jose Hurtado; and their daughter, Maxine Moran.
