A 75-year-old man died late Sunday afternoon when his car rolled on U.S. Highway 26 west of Prineville.
The man, whose name and hometown had yet to be released Sunday night, was driving a 2002 Porsche 911 convertible eastbound on U.S. Highway 26 near milepost 10 at around 5:15 p.m. and was following his son in another vehicle, according to the Oregon State Police. After going through the Southeast Ramms Road intersection, the man sped up and passed his son’s vehicle.
The man apparently then lost control of the car, and it rolled several times off the westbound shoulder of the highway, according to the OSP. The man was wearing a seatbelt.
