A recent report found membership in Medicare Advantage plans — privately managed health insurance plans that help Medicare beneficiaries — has increased by 9.7 percent since 2012 and 30 percent since 2010, despite concerns they may be impacted by payment changes in the Affordable Care Act.
Conducted by the Henry J. Kaiser Foundation, the report found 14.4 million Medicare beneficiaries, or 28 percent of the Medicare population, were enrolled in one of these plans this year. That group includes 286,306 Oregonians, giving the state a 42 percent participation rate in Medicare Advantage plans.
