Karl Denson and his trusty saxophone stay plenty busy.

They started out with Lenny Kravitz, made a bunch of traditional jazz albums, collaborated with acid-jazz DJ Greyboy and turned that partnership into a groovy band called The Greyboy Allstars. (And that’s a partial résumé, for sure.)

The point is, Denson’s an integral piece to any puzzle he’s a part of, but none moreso than his namesake band Tiny Universe, which specializes in rubbery, rollicking funk/jazz jams that fuel dance-floor fun without overpowering beats or bass. And they should sound particularly nice floating around Deschutes Brewery’s party in Drake Park on Saturday night.
