Deaths of note from around the world:

Sam Farber, 88: Started Oxo, the housewares manufacturer whose kitchen utensils with ergonomic rubber handles grace many homes. Died Sunday in East Meadow, N.Y.

Thomas Roberts, 75: Banker whose efforts to save the black-and-white-striped Fire Island Lighthouse in the early 1980s became a model for scores of lighthouse preservation campaigns around the country. Died June 10 at his home in Bay Shore, N.Y.
